Welcome!

Welcome to my blog! If you’re wondering what it’s all going to be about, you and I are in the same boat. As with most blogs, the intent behind this is to be a (hopefully) steady stream of consciousness that will (again, hopefully) be entertaining to some degree. A little rundown of my brain-pan might help define what things I’ll post about, and the categories I intend to separate everything into:

First and foremost, I’m a geek. If there is a geeky pursuit, I’ve probably done it, primarily in the form of games. I play games, and that occupies most of my free time. I play video games, card games, roleplaying games, board games, poker (lots of poker…), and I’ve even spent a good chunk of my life LARPing and playing live-combat games. I’m a gamer, in both the purest and broadest sense of the term.

I’m also a husband, a game designer, an artist, and a writer. I’ve just finished the first draft of my first full-length novel, and I’ve got several traditional game designs in the works.

The posts on  my blog will be split into one of the following categories:

EDITORIAL, which is further divided into:

Thoughts:
thinker_feature

Rants:

and
Reviews, which doesn’t have it’s own image because it’ll usually be tied to one of the categories below.

ENTERTAINMENT, which is further divided into:

Books (including my own):

Comic Books:

and
Movies:

and GAMING, which is further divided into:

Poker:

Video Games:

and
Traditional Games:

Hopefully you’ll find it as entertaining as I find it cathartic. I’m not here to take you on a journey, I just plan on putting myself out there and seeing what people think. Let me know, okay?

Welcome to Trade Secrets!

What exactly is Trade Secrets? We’re the Geekerific crew’s attempt at sating the appetites of comic book geeks the world round for entertaining, pertinent discussion of comic books and the comic book industry. The site will center primarily around the Trade Secrets Podcast, a bi-weekly internet radio show focused on comic book geekertainment. Each episode, the TSP crew will take on a trade paperback, hardcover, or other collected edition and tell you what they think, why they think it, and whether or not you should be reading it right now.

Other content will pop up on the site from time to time, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves – the podcast is what this is really all about. Every other Monday a new show will be posted right here, and will eventually be available on iTunes and the Zune marketplace (when our submissions are approved). Until our submissions are approved, CLICK HERE for instructions on how to subscribe to the podcast in iTunes and the Zune software.

Want to be a part of the show? Post questions for the hosts to the Geekerific.com forums, the Trade Secrets Facebook page, on Twitter @TradeSecretsPod, or e-mail them to tradesecrets@geekerific.com! The crew will answer just about any question you feel like throwing at them, on the air!

Sit back, relax, and listen to a bunch of comic book geeks bullshit about their favorite – or least favorite – books the same way you do with your friends. You may or may not agree with their opinions, but at least you’ll be entertained!

Welcome to Geekerific.com

Geekerific.com is finally up and running! We’ll call this the “alpha” version, as upgrades and new designs will undoubtedly come in time.

In the coming months you’ll find a wealth of information here, but the primary purpose of this site will be to support the After The Fact podcast and it’s contributors. Each one of us will have a blog here and be posting on a somewhat regular basis. You can also subscribe to the podcast here, by clicking on the RSS feed on the right-hand side of the page.

When there’s a new episode of the podcast it’ll be listed here, and we’ll also post updates about other random stuff as we feel like it. We’ll talk about what games we’re playing, we’ll discuss classic games, post snippets about the current game we’re playing for an upcoming show, post editorials about any topic we choose, and even just rant about random crap. Hopefully you’ll enjoy what you read and especially enjoy what you hear.

We all look forward to gaining new fans and new friends. Please feel free to pimp out the website and the podcast as much as possible! You can join the “After The Fact Podcast” group on Facebook, you can follow us on Twitter @afterthefactpod, and you can even e-mail us at afterthefact@geekerific.com.

We’ll see you around, and enjoy the show!
